Day 235: 1500hrs

Hey there, it’s me, Alex, again. I have been sent on a mission to infiltrate a certain group’s basecamp. The WLF camp. The most notorious dictators that have ever existed in the 21st century. It is located in the outskirts of Brazil somewhere near the Amazon Rainforest. There I would steal a virus sample which they intend to spread across the whole world…

Day 242: 1700hrs

As I searched for the campsite, I had tripped over the roots of a tree. I stood up annoyed with myself for not looking at where I was going. I looked at my compass to see where to go to next only to see the front cracked and the pointer spinning all over the place. ‘Dammit!’, I said to myself, ‘What do I do now?!’. And that’s when it hit me. ‘I still have my map so… I could go to the top of a hill and draw a route on my map!’ And so I did.

It took me about another half an hour to find a tall enough hill. I climbed to the top and what a scene it was. It was breathtaking. From here I could hear the birds chirping and the rustling of rainforest leaves. The wind blowing on my face lightly. It was amazing. Anyway, I sat down and drew a line on my map for the route to find the campsite of the vial containing the virus.

Day 245: 1200hrs

I was still en route until I surrendered to fatigue. I set up camp, cooked some soup and went to sleep. Next day for breakfast, I grabbed a nutrition bar from my backpack and started my journey once again…

I had finally found the camp except there was a ravine separating me from it. ‘No no no no no no no no no noooooooooo.’ I looked around helplessly to see if there was anything to help me cross over. And then I saw a ruined helicopter… except it was on the edge of the ravine. I sprinted to it in the intention of searching it to see if I could loot any supplements and even better if I found something which would help me cross over. As I got closer and closer, I was horror-struck by how massive the ravine was. How was I supposed to get over that far with a grappling hook! The ravine looked menacing just like how menacingly it made a crack into the earth, its edges and corners sharp and then as I looked down, the surface was so far, I couldn’t even see it! Never mind that. Need to get back on track.

As I was looting, I found a compartment at the front which had a machete. ‘I know exactly what to do with this!’ I whispered to myself, ‘…I could use it as a grappling hook.’ I tied a long, strong rope to the handle of it. I also found some food and that was it. When I tried to leave, the helicopter skidded off the edge, my heart was racing. I took another step and then the helicopter was sliding off completely off into the ravine. I took my chance and ran for it. As soon as I got to the end of the helicopter, jumped and used enough power to launch myself high into the air and threw my makeshift grappling hook to the other side of the ravine with as much force so that it would actually dig into the earth. I squeezed my eyes, not knowing whether I was falling to my death or not. Nothing happened. I opened my eyes and gave a sigh of relief. I began to climb up the rope (with some caution so that the machete wouldn’t come off) and got to safety! I was surprised that I hadn’t come across a single predator on my mission which is extremely fortunate in my case as that means I don’t have to be running all day from one.

1232hrs:

So this was it.. all I needed to do is steal the vial. There didn’t seem to be anyone around, “they probably went hunting for food.. yeah that could be it.” I said to myself. they were just there, in their respective cages as if the people who put them there were put them in the open on purpose; as if it were a boobytrap! I sprinted towards the stand and tripped over a tripwire! I saw a net about to grapple me up into the air but I rolled out of the way just in the nick of time. Just at that moment, I heard some chatting coming my way so I dashed to the nearest hiding spot! A WLF soldier said, “Hey look over there! Someone or something has set off one of our traps!”.

The other soldier replied, “Alright people, patrol and secure the area!”

“Roger that,” the rest said in unison. It was now time for stealth… I was crouching behind a wall and listening for the closest person. Seconds later I checked to see if there was anyone nearby who would hear him. No one was near. I conveniently found a scissor on a table and grabbed it quickly. I crafted a shiv (a knife or razor -North American and informal) as fast as I could and I was ready for my first kill.

Whilst crouching, I walked towards him and grabbed him by the neck whilst covering his mouth, “shhh, quiet now” I grunted whilst he resisted; took him back where I would be concealed and stabbed him in the neck, turned him around and slit his stomach. I threw him into the long blades of grass where he wouldn’t be noticed until you were close and moved on. There were approximately 7 WLF soldiers in the camp so there were 6 left to go. I couldn’t find any supplements to make more shivs, so I decided to craft a silenced pistol as I had bandages and I also saw a coke bottle on the floor not too far away. I crouched toward the bottle, grabbed it and crafted a silencer. I attached it to my M9. I crouched by a window and took out my new silenced pistol. I shot one in the head and he dropped down with a big thud. “Jamie, no!”, a WLF said. 2 down, 5 more to go. I shot another one down, 4 more. I was waiting for a soldier to turn around so he wouldn’t see me when I got up to aim. He finally turned around after a minute or so. I seized my moment to shoot another guy when my finger slipped over the trigger and clicked it! I missed him. “Oh no…” I said.

A man came over to the source of the sound (me) and shouted, “Found him!”. I switched to my shotgun and shot him in the face. 4 more. I ran like a bull towards the nearest WLF soldier, threw a glass bottle at his head to stun him and smacked him again except this time with my shotgun then shot another goon who was nearby knocking him down dead, 3 more. I got out my axe and beheaded the goon dazed in front of me. It was sickening because he made a gurgling sound leading to a gush of blood flowing out of his mouth! Now there were 5 down meaning there were 2 more to go…

1300hrs:

I aimed my gun at the two WLF soldiers left. I told the first one to sit on his knees with his arms on his head to sit on the right side of me and the other the same but on the left. They obeyed. I asked, “Which one of these bodies is your leader? Or is he still outside somewhere?”. They pointed to one of the dead bodies. I walked over to the body and I searched his clothes to see if there was anything of use that would help me complete this mission. I found a key which was probably for a safe or even for the secured stand of the virus. Instead, there was a biometric scanner.

“Interrogation time,” I said calmly. I got out my axe. I swung it before their eyes as if it were supposed to hypnotise them. “I. Am going to ask both of you.. a question. One of you will write the answer down on paper and the other will whisper to me. If I find.. that the results given to me do not match!” I slammed my axe down not too deep into the earth. They shuddered, not expecting for that to happen. “Then I WILL beat both of you till you give me a satisfactory answer!” I concluded.

Then I walked towards the man on my left. I asked, “Who’s hand is assigned to the scanner?”.

“Who’s hand, I don’t know who’s hand?” he lied. On that moment, I felt blood rushing through my veins and my body tensing. I couldn’t take it anymore… my patience had perished. Once again, I got out my shotgun and started beating him. I unintentionally crushed part of his skull, his hair soaked in his own blood. I then kicked him in the stomach and dragged him by his hair away from the guy on my right so that he was out of earshot. I decided to tie both of them with the rope previously used to cross the ravine so that they wouldn’t be able to escape.

“You stay here,” I said coldly. I then walked to the man on my right. I asked him the same question. There was no answer. This time I got the machete found at the helicopter and stabbed it deep into his leg just above his knee. He screamed in agony. “Focus! Don’t look down. Right here, right there,” I said, “Or I’ll pop your knee off…”. “Who’s hand,” I said. He nodded surrendering his loyalty to his leader and saving his own life.

“O-okay! I’ll tell you,” he stuttered. I pulled the machete out violently and stuffed the handle in his mouth.

“Now your gonna write it and it better be the same answer your buddy over there gives me,” I said. I put the back of the map in front of him. He tried to write the name of the WLF soldier as clearly as he could. He wrote in his own blood the name: Sergeant Miller.

‘There you go, it’s there,” I folded up the map,” You can verify it. Go ask him. Go on. I ain’t lying, I ain’t lying.” I got up. I strangled him whilst he tried to resist, trying to gasp for breath. I added pressure on my arm making it tighter around his neck and gave a violent nudge to the side. CRACK… he was dead.

“What the hell man! He gave you what you wanted,” he said petrified about what happened before his eyes. I walked towards him picked up the axe and held it from the head so that the long handle would become a bat. He said, “I ain’t telling you nothin’!”.

“That’s alright. I believe him,” I got ready my ‘bat’.

“NO WAI-!” he shouted. BANG. He dropped dead. I went over to the dead bodies and looked for a man with a badge on his coat stating ‘Sergeant J. Miller’. I found him. I dragged him with me to the altar and placed his hand carefully on the scanner and it unlocked! I took it out and put it into a case where it won’t break. I then called my secretary about the completion of my mission. He said that there will be a pickup truck waiting for me in Manaus City. From there on I would be picked up by a plane and be taken back home...
